Echinacea Green Eyes

‘Green Eyes’ looks like ‘Ruby Giant‘ but with deeper magenta flower color and a green disc center when young giving a green eyed look. This is a strong plant with long-lasting blooms which are fragrant.

Flowers twice ie in Summer and Autumn. Flower colour may intensify in cooler weather. Echinacea comes from the Greek word “echinos” meaning hedgehog in reference to the flower’s spiny centre cone.

Echinacea ‘Green Eyes’ is easily grown in average, dry to medium, well-drained soil in full sun to part shade. Best in full sun. An adaptable plant that is tolerant of drought, heat, humidity and poor soil. Does not however like extremely low pH soil conditions. Divide clumps when they become overcrowded (about every 4 years). Plants may require deadheading, or removal of spent flowers to improve general appearance and encourage repeat flowering. Ideal mass border impact plant either alone or in combination with Echinacea ‘Hope’.
