Inca White Sparkle
SEASONS:
Spring, Summer
Inca Sparkles are actually a hybrid Alstroemeria. The flowers are different on close inspection, and have multiple flower heads off each stem. They form a dense foliage and flower carpet and have the added benefit of being hardier to dry extremes than ordinary Alstroemeria, which tend to ‘retreat to their tubers’ in both extreme cold and hot dry conditions. This is a survival mechanism related to their origins in the mountainous regions of South America.
White and Pink Sparkle are valuable ground cover perennials for the summer garden.
